D- The day of multiple vaccinations against polio is held this Saturday

This Saturday (20), the Secretary of State for Health (SES) is promoting the D-Day of multiple vaccinations for children and adolescents under 15 years of age and against polio for children from one to under five years of age.

This event is one of Vacina Mais Paraíba’s actions, launched by the state government to unite efforts and raise awareness of the safety and efficacy of vaccines and increase coverage, reducing vaccine-preventable (and vaccine-preventable) diseases.

The official opening will be at the Basic Health Unit (UBS), owned by Mário Andreazza 2 and 3, in Bayeux. The event will take place in 223 municipalities of Paraíba, from 8 am to 4 pm.

“The highlight of polio is due to the fact that Brazil is classified as at high risk of reintroduction of the polio virus, but the campaign will be to update all vaccines provided by SUS, in the national vaccination calendar,” explained the head of the SES Immunization Center, Franciélia Carvalho.

In Paraíba, polio immunization coverage is below target. According to the national vaccination campaign, the target population is 227,851 doses and 9,691 doses have been administered.

That is only 4.25% of the target, that is, 95%. In the state, from January to July 2022, none of the vaccines given to children under 1 and 1 year of age reached the appropriate vaccination coverage target.

“Given this low vaccine coverage situation, it is of paramount importance that municipal administrators clarify and organize their vaccine rooms. It is also worth noting that each municipality is autonomous in defining strategies for publicity and access expansion that best suit the realities and needs of its residents.

SES sent the doses to the Regional Health Departments (GRS) that supply all 223 municipalities in the state.

The proposal is for family health units to be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but each municipality is responsible for the best logistics for business success.

On D-Day, BCG, Hepatitis B, Penta, Inactivated Polio, Oral Polio, Rotavirus, Pneumonia 10, Meningo C, Yellow Fever, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Tetra Viral (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) chickenpox), DTP, hepatitis A, chickenpox, diphtheria, adult tetanus (dT), meningococcal ACWY, tetravalent HPV, dTpa, influenza (this is served during the annual campaign), 23-valent pneumococcus (Pneumo 23) and Covid-19.
