The State Department of Health has determined with the municipalities that influenza (influenza) vaccination may be available to the general population (over 6 months of age) from now on. The national campaign started in April for priority groups. In Rio Grande do Sul, 1912,279 people have so far been vaccinated against the disease. Vaccination coverage among the groups for which the vaccination target was 90% (children, health workers, pregnant women, maternal, Indigenous, elderly, and educators), is still less than 50%.
The number of influenza campaign doses is limited to the estimated amount of the public among the priority groups, and there is no expectation of an increase in the number received by the Ministry of Health. Therefore, the doses now available to the general population include the amount that the priority groups have not yet used.
The total population of priority groups in Rio Grande do Sul for this year’s campaign was estimated at 4.9 million people. To serve this audience, about 5.1 million doses were received, of which about 1.9 million were already registered in the National Immunization Program Information System as applied.

The definition of the continuation of the strategy was set on Friday, 3rd, jointly with the Council of Municipal Health Departments of Rio Grande do Sul (Cosems/RS).
