Fuel will go up again next week

Fuel will go up again next week. For gasoline, an increase of 14 cents is expected. For diesel, it should be 12 cents per liter as of Monday. Oil prices rose again this week, with the approval of the sixth package of sanctions against Russia.

The European Union’s decision did not take long to be reflected in the price of oil, which rose shortly after the agreement was announced to $124 a barrel.

European leaders on Monday reached an agreement to ban Russian oil that reaches Europe by sea. Giving more details about the ban, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, made it clear that it would immediately affect 75% of imports and that the goal was: The number rises to 90%. until the end of the year.

So the EU will cut Russian oil imports by 90% by the end of 2022. Negotiating the agreement was difficult, but European leaders ended up giving the green light for the embargo. Outside the convention are Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The partial ban fell short of the goal set by the European Commission president. In early May, Ursula von der Leyen called for a complete oil embargo from Russia. The resistance of some countries did not allow it to reach this extent.

The agreement applies only to imports by sea and excludes Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia – the countries most dependent on Russia that accept embargoes only under these terms. The three countries will be able to continue importing Russian oil without restrictions until they find alternatives.
