Comedian Gilbert Godfrey has died

Tribute to Gilbert Gottfried: Comedian who starred in several American comedies such as “Beverly Hills Cop II”, died after a long illness. He is 67 years old.

In a statement on the comedian’s Twitter account, his family said, “We are saddened to announce the passing away of our beloved Gilbert Godfrey after a long illness. It is unknown how he died.

His family has described him as “the greatest voice in comedy” and “a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children”.

Godfrey Gilbert leaves behind his 14-year-old daughter Lily and two-year-old youngest son Max. Both children are married to filmmaker Tara Gravitz, with whom the comedian has been married since 2007.

“Although today is a sad day for all of us, keep smiling as much as you can for Gilbert’s honor,” the family continued in a tweet. In the comment column, his fans say goodbye. One user writes, “Be quiet, legend”, for example. “Thanks for being a part of my childhood,” another commented. You can also read on Twitter, “What a funny man. No one is like him.”

“Most Popular Voice in Comedy”

He began his career as a comedian in New York in the 1980s. Gilbert Godfrey soon became involved with the film business and assumed minor roles in films and series.

He got his major involvement with Eddie Murphy after he landed a supporting role in 1987’s “Beverly Hills Cop II”. This was followed by series such as “Look Who’s Talking 2” with John Travolta or “Sharknado 4” with David Hasselhoff and “Hannah Montana” with Miley Cyrus or “A Terribly Nice Family” with Al Pundi as Ed O’Neill.

He was also a frequent guest on Jay Leno’s “Tonight” show. Gilbert Godfrey also served as a voice actor, and can be heard in films such as “Hercules” or “Dr. Tolittle”.
