Kamil Majjrsak (ATP 75) waited three years for the first scene of his ATP Masters 1000 competition. In 2019, he competed in the Indian Wells tournament, but the Russian Andrei Rublev turned out to be better than him. This time the pole in the BNP Paribas Open ladder took a certain place in terms of his position, and in the first round his opponent was Aljaz Bedane (ATP 133).
Majjrsak took the opportunity to defeat the Slovenian player 6: 1, 7: 5. The 32-year-old from Lubljana has not played tennis professionally for the past eight months due to health reasons. In Indian Wells he started to thank those who called the frozen rankings, but have to wait for success in the 2022 season. On Friday, the Poles took the rematch for their defeat in the Davis Cup four years ago.
The first set lasted only 19 minutes. It was clear that Beden could not find his rhythm. The lack of in-game training was evident, and the Slovenes did not perform well in transfers. He made mistakes in service (with others, he was triggered by foot errors), which made him frustrated. In such a situation, Majjarsak broke his opponent’s pass to zero in the second game. He then made another break at 5: 1, when the opponent made a double mistake at the wrong time. Shortly afterwards, “Szumi” probably finished the process with a drive-volley from the forehand, using the first set ball.

The second game was a draw. Beden did not give up service when he had to defend a break point in the first and seventh games. He clearly improved the game. He worked better and more accurately. Majchrzak was also in trouble. At 4: 3, Slovene surprised him with a superb return, but at the moment of threat, Piotkov hit the cross with a dirty forehand (this was the only break point he had to defend throughout the match). Our tennis player tied for 4 runs.
The events that determined the fate of the second edition took place in the state after 5 p.m. Majjrsak attacked and made three break points. Third, the opponent sent the ball out and lost the pass. After turning the pages, the Pole immediately hit two matches. With the first one, Sloveni made a mistake and the 67-minute fight ended.
Majchrzak won the first ATP Masters 1000 event of his career and was promoted to the second round of the Indian Wells Tournament. The next game will take place on Sunday, and his opponent, Taylor Fritz, will be ranked 20th, currently the second American rocket.
