Interior Penapolis – Health Department warns of dengue fever prevention

The Department of Health in the City of Penapolis is warning residents to take precautions to contain the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue, Zika and chikungunya. Only at the beginning of the year, the municipal epidemiological surveillance department recorded 105 positive cases of dengue fever.

Health Minister Doctor Luis Washington Pozo Nascimento Filho emphasized that everyone cares about the care against Covid-19, but it is necessary to confront dengue, another endemic problem affecting our region. “As of Friday the 25th we have already recorded 105 dengue cases,” he said.

“Epidemic Surveillance Service agents are constantly working to eradicate Aedes aegypti mosquito breeding sites, but we depend on the cooperation and attention of each resident. Take care of your home, get rid of standing water from your home and protect your family and neighbors,” said Louise Washington.

The Minister also indicated that dengue fever occurs in the seasonal periods of the epidemic at a rate of every four years. “We recorded dengue epidemics in 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019 and we are very concerned about the number of cases in early 2022,” he warned.

“Dengue is a serious health problem and it also leads to death. We need the cooperation of the whole community to prevent the spread of the disease. It is simple parking, daily care in our homes, we reserve a few minutes a day to check back yards, eliminate breeding sites and all stagnant water,” directing the Minister Health, Louise Washington.

According to the data of the epidemiological surveillance service, as of Friday (25), 105 positive cases have been reported and 41 patients are awaiting test results. In January, 17 cases were confirmed. In February, 88 positive cases of dengue fever were recorded.
