For the first time, a pre-order version of the Secret Lair Drop Series of Magic: The Gathering is available on the Brazilian market. From now on, players of the world’s most traditional trading card game will be able to acquire and discover unique cards, developed in collaboration with different artists and companies.
Secret Lair is a way for the public to access exclusive cards, released in Drop Series mode, in which a deck of cards is provided as a separate and collectible product. Collections, in general, allow MTG developers to unleash their imagination to release new versions of classic cards, with alternative art styles, unexpected collaborations, and even cards that don’t fit into the traditional deck.
The group that debuted Secret Lair in Brazil features an exclusive crossover with one of the most popular video game franchises around the world: Street Fighter. Among the characters featured in Secret Lair x Street Fighter are some of Capcom’s most popular fighting game series, such as Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile and Blanka. In addition to the illustrations inspired by the style of the classic video game, the abilities of the fighters are on the cards, as in the case of Chun-Li, who has a “multicolored” effect, referring to his most famous move.
The Street Fighter co-op cards are part of the Universes Beyond series, which focuses precisely on partnerships and crossovers between the Magic, pop, and geek cultural franchises. The reveal of the reward card will continue live during the Capcom Pro Tour 2021, which will take place at 9:00 PM PDT on 2/19 and broadcast on Capcom’s Twitch channels on YouTube.
Secret Lair series products are always purchased via presale. That is, once the set is announced, Wizards of The Coast opens a sales period and the cards go into production only when they are closed. Another difference is that the cards are sent directly to the consumer.
