The world’s 10 richest people have lost billions since 2022, except for Warren Buffett – Executive Digest

The richest people in the world saw their net worth decline in the first few weeks of 2022. Warren Buffett was the only one who managed to escape and saw his net worth jump to around €100 billion.

The recent drop in tech stocks has managed to snatch the fortune of the world’s richest person, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, by nearly €49 billion, and the year has barely started. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos lost about 25 billion euros, while Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin lost more than 11 billion euros. On the other hand, Mark Zuckerberg suffered a loss of 14 billion euros.

But among the ten richest people in the world, there was one who managed to escape and saw his net worth increase. Warren Buffett won nearly €2 billion, bringing his total fortune to €100 billion. In this way, the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway has overtaken Zuckerberg and jumped to sixth place in the global wealth ranking, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Buffett has long recommended that entrepreneurs invest in index funds, which automatically make them diversified. The S&P 500, for example, includes large companies such as Apple, Coca-Cola, and Google. Either way, the millionaire may not stay in the top 10 for long, as the investor revealed last year that he was one step closer to donating his fortune to charitable causes.
