Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin left her helpline at home on Saturday. There she missed two messages about self-isolating as being in close contact with those infected with the coronavirus.
On Saturday night, two text messages were sent asking members of the Finnish government who were in close contact with the country’s foreign minister, Pekka Haavisto, to go into isolation.
The text messages were sent by the government’s security chief after Haavisto tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday, it said. Finnish state channel Yle.
Hours after Haavisto tested positive for the virus, she set off for Helsinki. She has since complained at a press conference that she has not self-isolated:
– I’m sorry that I did not understand that I had to do this, Prime Minister Marin wrote on Facebook.
The opposition responded to the fact that she did not enter isolation voluntarily, later calling it “irresponsible” by MP Mia Laihu, who represents the conservative liberal Samlingspartiet party.

The 36-year-old prime minister explained to various Finnish media that the messages were sent to a service phone she did not have with her, but Haavisto called her on another phone that same night. Without realizing then that she must be in isolation.
– On Saturday evening, I learned that Minister Haavisto was infected with the Corona virus, and at the same time, I received an assessment that no special measures were needed. In this context, I have not been asked to avoid contacts, chirp Sunday Night Navy.
In her tweet, Marin added that she only read the instructions sent by the head of security regarding self-isolation on Sunday.
– I usually have both phones, but that wasn’t the case because it was a day off. Marin told the newspaper that only in the morning she noticed and read the messages on the other phone evening news.
