A documentary about the 2020/21 season for Juventus reveals behind-the-scenes moments.
On March 9, 2021, FC Porto eliminated Juventus in the round of 16 of the Champions League, after losing 3-2 (in extra time) in the second leg (the “Dragons” won 2-1 in Dragao in the first game).
In the intermission of that match, the blue and white logo secured a 1-0 win, which angered Cristiano Ronaldo in the dressing room, prompting him to discuss with Juan Cuadrado, as reported in the documentary All or Nothing, about the 2020/21 season. From “Vecchia Signora”.
Now watch the conversation between the players:
Cristiano Ronaldo: “We have to do more. Shit! We didn’t play anything. Nothing.”
Square: “Calm…”
Ronaldo: “Damn it! We didn’t play shit!”
(…)
Ronaldo: “Me too, me too.”
Square: “You have to set an example for everyone.”
Ronaldo: “Me myself included. But we didn’t play anything, we have to tell the truth. This is a champions match. We have to have character.”
Here coach Andrea Pirlo came in saying, “Enough, let’s go. Enough, Cree. Enough, Juan.”
In the second half, Juventus turned the score, advancing 2-1 for extra time. There, FC Porto would eventually qualify for the quarter-finals.
