86% of the Portuguese population has already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19


Portugal already has 86% of the population – the equivalent of 8,862,628 people – with fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to the latest vaccination report from the Directorate General of Health (DGS), released this Tuesday. From December 31, 2020 until October 24 this year. In the latest update, made last week, that percentage remained at 85% – the target set by the government. Moreover, 87% of the Portuguese population – 9011536 people – has already received at least one dose of the vaccine.

By age groups, 100% of the population over 80 years old and 65-79 years old are fully vaccinated. Between the ages of 50 and 64, 100% of the population received a dose of the vaccine and 99% were fully vaccinated.

In the 25-49 year range, 96% of subjects were vaccinated with a single dose and 93% had the full vaccination schedule. 92% of the 18-24-year-old population also received a dose of the vaccine and 89% received a full vaccination. From 12 to 17 years of age, 89% of young people were vaccinated with a dose of the vaccine and 86% were fully vaccinated.

By region, Lisbon and Valle do Tejo were again the region with the most vaccinations this week, delivering another 17,247 doses, but it was the north that delivered the most vaccines since the start of the operation – with a total of 5709386 doses. This is also the area with the most complete operations, with 88% of the population fully vaccinated.

The Algarve is the most backward region in the country, with 80% of the population fully vaccinated.

In total, Portugal has already received 21,400,630 doses and distributed 16,599,465.
