Ball – Milan fans do not forgive Donnarumma (Italy)

The League of Nations match with Spain is of special significance for Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who was named Euro 2020’s Player of the Year, returns to San Siro, the home of Milan, where he made his debut at the age of 16 and left last summer.

“I am looking forward to it, Milan has been a very important part of my life and I will always be a fan of the club. Donnarumma made it clear that having the opportunity to compete here in an important competition for the national team is very special for me.”

However, the guardian’s return should not be peaceful. Leaving at no cost to PSG, after rejecting several Milan renewal proposals, still leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of Rossoneri fans, who promise to make themselves heard in the stands with the goalkeeper’s loud whistles.

Aware of the tension, Donnarumma called for support – “I gave everything for Milan until the last minute, everyone knows that, so I ask everyone who goes to the stadium to help us and not whistle” – but the message was not successful.

Yesterday, a group of Milan fans hung a banner on a bridge in the Italian city bearing a clear message for the goalkeeper. “Donnarumma… you will not be welcome in Milan… a man from M…” read the letter.
