When we talk about gaming, we have many different platforms available to satisfy our addiction, from computers to fixed and mobile consoles, as well as smartphones and tablets. But a recent study concludes that classic is always best and 87% of gamers prefer to play from a desktop rather than a laptop.

Desktop is preferred for gaming

When asked what equipment we prefer to play on, it is possible that those "hungry" will choose a desktop computer. A year ago, we asked our readers what was the best platform to play on, and the majority, with 59% of the votes, chose desktop.

A new study prepared by the analyst this time John Bede Research, concludes that the vast majority of gamers prefer to play on desktop computers rather than laptops. Concretely, 87% of gamers prefer gaming desktops.

The analyst turned to some data provided by the popular gaming platform Steam, in which it is known that 68% of the graphics cards used in the Valve service are for desktop computers, while 10% are for laptops. Already 20% serves both devices. Through his own studies, John Beddy Research concluded that 87% of gamers choose desktop computers to play, while only 13% use a laptop, which seems to be much lower than expected.

Although JPR understands that there has been an increase in sales of gaming laptops, it adds that it is strange that most of these consumers are not using these devices to play games. He also notes that there are 3 categories those who buy gaming laptops fall into. The first are those who use them at work or study because of the productivity performance that these machines provide; others because they like to play with RGB lights and modular design; and others who buy laptops of a certain brand and use them as secondary equipment for desktop games.
