E/R: 13 lobbying for MCE position in West Akyem

Thirteen people are lobbying for the Chief Executive position in West Akyem Municipal of the Eastern Region as Nana Akuffo-Addo takes over governance and he is yet to appoint Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE's).

According to a reliable source, people vying for the position include party executives, formal Members of Parliament, formal Chief Executives and some Financiers of the party.

The New Member of Parliament for the Lower West Akyem Constituency, Mr. Eyiah Kyei Baffour, in an interview with Brytfmonline.com reporter in Asamankese confirmed that more than ten people are lobbying for the position but only the qualified and competent person shall be appointed for endorsement. He said, "because of democracy, everybody can contest and lobby for a position but self-Assessment is crucial to avoid rejection by Assembly members after appointment".

Mr. Kyei Baffuor said he will recommend a candidate who is competent and is ready to serve the people to the President and called on his constituents to remain calm.

The MP, who won the parliamentary election on December 7, 2016, to take over from Gifty Klenam said he is reliably informed that few people are threatening to embark on demonstration if their candidate for the MCE position is not appointed and call for calm and support for anyone who will be given the nod.

He, however, pledged to support the next MCE to develop the area and announced the party in the Constituency shall organize non-interdenominational service on January 15, 2017, at Asamankese to thank God for what he did for Ghana during December 7, 2016, polls.
